Alexandra Collins is a rising junior pursuing a degree in electrical engineering.
She is originally from Lothian, MD. Alexandra is a student within the Honors College and is a part of the West Virginia University chapters of the Society of Women Engineers, National Society of Black Engineers, and Chi Alpha. She is also starting a Resident Assistant position for the 2017-2018 academic year within the university’s residence halls. Alexandra is currently working under Dr. Bernard Schreurs on researching the correlation between perineuronal nets (PNNs) and memory retention and the role PNNs partake in neurodegenerative diseases. She plans on pursuing a graduate degree in electrical engineering with a concentration in signal processing so that she can apply it to research within the field of neuroscience. During her free time, Alexandra’s favorite hobbies include playing bass guitar and video games, making puns, and hiking.
