Autum Downey is a senior from Fairmont, WV. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in geology with a minor in mathematics and geographic information systems.
Autum is a 2016-2017 Eberly College Outstanding Senior and 2017-2018 Eberly Scholar. She is also an active member of her local Women’s Auxiliary and works closely with “Friends of the Cheat” analyzing and monitoring water quality of the Cheat River. Autum will be conducting her McNair research project under Dr. Dorothy Vesper, focusing on high elevation sandstone springs in Appalachia. Her research aims to identify and quantify the geochemical signatures of these sandstone springs. Autum plans to pursue a doctorate in environmental geochemistry where she will continue to facilitate scientific discussion in the field. In her free time, Autum enjoys being outside, listening to music, and being with friends and family.
